Life is full of Stories. As child, we used to get fascinated to hear stories from our elders.
Hearing Stories helped us to image and paint our own characters. They provided us with imagination. We color, paint, create ourselves into these thoughts and build us a pleasing or creative set of events which entertain us providing us with a perspective.
Stories can be fiction or non-fiction. Some are logical while others are reality. Some are built to provide us with a moral or a learning. While others are open ended in nature. Some stories are real and have already happened while some are still a mystery.
In the Entertainment Industry, we see plethora of stories that include both fiction and non-fiction. I am movie-buff and is always interested to see new genres of stories, series, movies and documentaries in the entertainment sector.
People were earning and doing good job at imitating and being in the character to be performed.
Our society sometimes are so much taken away by the characters that they forget people portraying the characters are real people and not the reel role they play.
I remember the first series of Ramayana played on the DD Channel had Arul Govil as Ram and Deepika Chikhalia as Sita and people were mesmerized by the superb narration of Ramanand Sagar. Ramayana had a huge impact on people and there began an era of Devotional Drama Series which were earlier seen only in Theaters and recognition was only bounded within those doors.
Then came series like Mogli and Shaktiman that were all fictional in nature and very loved even more by the world. Growing up, I read fictional novels like those of Harry Potter and it was just out of the world. It was engaging as it was targeted to the correct audience of children. It was beautiful as far as creativity was concerned and it was thrilling as with each book we wanted to know more.
No wonder, it was a super successful series and yes of course J.K Rowling was the Queen of Wizardworld. She was the superstar and lead characters of Harry Potter, Hermione and Ron became every school going kid’s hero. It was seen that people were loving these characters and fictional stories so much that somehow they became the next big thing in the industry.
Then came the era of Star Wars and Lord Of The Rings which ruled everyone’s heart and still people don’t mind watching it again and again
We were stung by the phrase: ” My Precious” and we often referred to it as something which we cannot let out of our sight.
Coming to the second set of the discussion we can focus on the Non-Fictional part of the world where we get to know about the war life of what happened before we were born. We tend to learn about the Battle of Kings and Kingdoms. We learn about the war between Russia and Germany. And we learn how our people behaved under extreme pressure, their decision-making skills, their commitment, and their loyalty. We learn so much about the scenarios at that time, the strategies the valor and the mindset with which the people use to face each other. Although, today it is all in the past and somehow the only place we read it in our history textbook but yes our perspective for today has an amalgamation of skills, perspective, knowledge and patience which we read of our ancestors.
It is seen that even though we have a huge collection of documentaries and biographies of our leaders It is a common tendency where we tend to be drawn more towards the Fictional stories and movies way too much than the real ones. So what is your choice of Story?
